Hi, I’m Kelli and this is Confections & Coffee!
What makes Confections & Coffee different?
My website has two things I haven’t been able to find yet in an online presence.
- Recipes that can be easily substituted. I.e. replace butter with a dairy-free option, replace eggs, make it gluten free, make it vegan. I believe that everyone should be able to make recipes that fit their dietary needs, and I also believe it doesn’t have to be that difficult.
- Recipes that are just plain easy. The internet is saturated with complex, overly complicated recipes that just don’t cut it for me, and I’ve got some of the most delicious classic recipes that anyone can learn, even if you’re just starting out! I want to help you learn how to bake something and be proud of it!
The Reason I Started Confections & Coffee:
I started this blog in 2012 to create a space that documented my culinary journey. My love for baking and cooking has grown exponentially ever since. I took a brief hiatus to attend graduate school from 2018-2020, but I’m back with a brand new look and brand new content.
The Reason For My Blog Name:
My love for coffee goes way back to spending weekend mornings with my grandparents. They would make me Kelli-coffee and would sit together watching morning TV shows. Kelli-coffee wasn’t much other than milk, sugar, and a splash of cold coffee, but it’s a memory that is deep and meaningful to me. Over the years, the experience of drinking coffee has and will always bring me great joy. I look forward to making a cup of coffee every morning, and even during the hard times it might be the only think I look forward to. There will always be feelings of love and nostalgia when it comes to drinking coffee, and it will always be a part of who I am!
My blog used to be called Culinary Adventures, which was also featured in a magazine every other week, and the need for an internet presence was not as strong. When I decided that I wanted to put more effort into my blog, I knew I needed a more unique and personal name that fit who I am and what I did. Confections? Check. Coffee? Check.
To Sum It Up:
I run this blog to share with others the techniques and tools I use in every day baking and cooking and I hope to one day accomplish my goal of opening a bakery. Until then I will bake with the passion I was born with and share it with others. Oh, and I’ll definitely be taking coffee breaks.
